who in history lost a big battle because their army went onto pilfer the dead enemies?

if im not mistaken the enemies were trying to breach the walls and were cut down by the defenders but then the defenders began to run out onto the outside to pilfer the jewellery and gold etc from the dead enemies then they were re attacked and lost. It was like in ancient egypt or some desert/sandy location...maybe around the hitite empire? im not sure and i really need to know what this battle was, for my own sanity at least lol!
