im on the last step of carving a wooden pipe is there something to put in the bowl so the wood don’t burn?

I believe f100_supersabre is correct, unless you have one huge bowel.

I purposely char the inside of the bowel, to create an extremely thin semi-carbonized layer. This seems to extended the pipe’s life [...]
